Longonot and Lake Naivasha.

Depart from Nairobi in the morning and drive westwards stopping at the view point on the Great Rift Valley and view the Loita Plains and also from here you can see Lake Naivasha sparking in the sun thousands of feet below. Then proceed to Lake Naivasha which is the highest Lake in the Rift Valley. It is a peaceful cool lake with many species of bird, this freshwater lake is a birding Paradise, other animals includes hippos, giraffes, buffalo and colobus monkey. The lake lies in the Great Rift Valley and the name derives from the local Maasai name Nai'posha, meaning "rough water" because of the sudden storms which can arise.

After lunch we visit Crescent island which is a private sanctuary, where you can walk beneath yellow-barked acacias (yellow fever trees) in search of giraffes, wildebeest , impala , dikdiks, thompson’s and grant’s gazelles, elands, waterbucks and countless bird species there are also some gigantic pythons. An optional boat ride on the lake reveals many water bird species and schools of Hippos.

Longonot : 

Hiking to the top of the Great Rift Valley will give you the chance to experience the freedom and awesome wilderness of East Africa, and still be home in time for dinner. Mt Longonot is just less than 2780m (9100ft) above sea level with a tree-filled interior and a lonesome steam vent to the northeast. A climb up Mount Longonot is an ideal day trip from either Nairobi or Naivasha.

  1. Suswa :

 Only 50 Km from Nairobi, it is described by many as the best day trip from Kenya’s capital, this little known yet massive double cratered volcano is located very close to it’s well known sister, Mt. Longonot. Mt. Suswa is one of the most spectacular mountains of the Rift Valley as it comprises a 12 km across double crater system, a vast network of obsidian caves and a variety of wild animals and plants.

Ol Pejeta Conservancy- Chimpanzee Sanctuary

Depart Nairobi and travel north, where you drive past pineapple, coffee, banana plantations to one of the largest open air market in East and Central Africa Karatina. A brief stop to sample what is sold and to meet the local inhabitants who belong to the biggest tribe in Kenya – the kikuyu. Proceed to the Ol Pejeta conservancy and chimp in the one – square kilometer sanctuary. This sanctuary is home to more than 26 orphaned chimp’s age varying from 01-15 years most of which come from Jane Good all Institutes in Burundi. Return to Nairobi in the late evening:

Oldonyo Sabuk National Park

Leave early in the morning and arrive at Thika Town then visit Chania Falls before you proceed to Fourteen Falls via one of the largest pineapple firms in East Africa. On arrival you will be guided to climb the hill to the summit by an armed ranger because of many buffaloes which inhabit the surroundings. The hill is known by the local Kamba tribe “Kilimambogo” meaning mountain of buffaloes. Return to Nairobi at your leisure arriving in the evening.

Ngong Hills and Shallom Picnic Site

Depart from the city in the morning and drive past the Ngong town and proceed to the top of the hill to wonderful views of Lake Magadi plains of the Nguruman and Uaso Nyiro rivers, lakes Natron etc. Later on proceed to Shalom picnic site for relaxing and also a place to meet the local people.

Wajee Nature Trail

Depart Nairobi and drive past Karatina into Mukurwe-ini town in time for lunch. Afterwards drive to wajee camp which is two kilometers from Mukurwe-ini. A guide will lead you to the nature trails where it is home to the rare barbet and other different species of birds about 220 species. Return to Nairobi late in the evening.

Lake Nakuru Express – full day Lake Nakuru National Park

You will drive to Lake Nakuru National Park with a brief stopover at the Great Rift Valley view Point. Arrive in time for lunch. After lunch, proceed for a game drive before returning to Nairobi.
